Sunny Springs Park combines design and an existing utilitarian structure.  The watershed location of the cities of Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas essentially translates into seasonal flooding.  The necessary infrastructure to prevent residential and commercial flood damage includes large, often multi-acre detention basins.  Sunny Springs Park is located in and around one of these very detention basins.   Sunny Springs, a park of approximately 9 acres provides local youth and families with the following amenities:  tot lot with a splash feature, covered picnic structures, open turf areas, a full basketball court, two tennis courts, a skate park, two horse shoe pits, and a fitness course.  Sunny Springs Park makes smart use of a flood infrastructure element and provides a much needed recreation space that serves both area residents and students.
